this does not have to be in same dir as ffxi. It actually recommends you do not put it in same dir.
How to use. extract to a dir (example c:\FFXIboot) create shortcut on desktop to pol in the c:\ffxiboot dir you created go to property's of shortcut where it says target should look like this C:\FFXIBoot\ffxi-boot_mod_3.2\pol.exe --server 12.139.44.207 --user (your username) --pass (your pass) --lang US also under compatibility click run as administrator

I had some serious issues here because the regular target is in quotation marks. I had to spend several minutes trying to figure out where to add the additional information, and they were meant to go AFTER the marks. But oh well, still doesn't help me get back to the game
